Federal Tax Credit

The Federal Policy Act of 2005, the first major piece of federal energy legislation since 1992, was signed into law in August 2005. The Act includes provisions for tax credits to purchase high efficiency products and to design and construct efficient buildings and building systems. The IRS and other agencies are in the process of developing rules to implement these credits.

The Efficiency Maine staff is watching the development process and wanted you to be able to check on updates yourself. Go to the Alliance to Save Energy's special tax credit Web site, energytaxincentives.org, for regular updates.
